What we collect. When you take #1: the display name you choose and your email address. Payment details are entered on Stripe's checkout and are never seen or stored by us. We don't use analytics or tracking cookies.

What's public. Your display name, the price you paid and when, shown on THE LIST. Your email address is never shown publicly, sold or shared for marketing.

Why we use your email. To confirm your payment, tell you when you're dethroned, and refund you if someone beat you to it. That's necessary to provide what you paid for (UK GDPR: performance of a contract). We don't send newsletters.

Who processes it for us. Stripe (payments), Supabase (database, EU), Resend (email), Vercel (hosting) and Cloudflare (domain and email routing). Some of these are US companies; they protect transfers with the UK's approved safeguards.

How long we keep it. For as long as THE LIST exists, because the history is the point. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.

Your rights. You can ask to see your data, correct it, or have your email and name removed (your past position will show as "[removed]"; this doesn't entitle you to a refund). Email hello@firstplace.fyi. If you're unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
